While this new technology is amazing, there are still drawbacks. Read below to compare and contrast your options to find your prize!
Pros
-
Fast. Cover mass amounts of acreage in very little time. Up to 40 acres in 90 minutes!

-
Thorough. With our software we can look at every inch below our cameras. Hot spots show up as white and red, drawing the eye directly to the target.

-
Minimal intrusion. Once in the woods, the pilot stands in one place (as long as he can see the drone) while the drone flys it mission. No leaving scent all over the woods to ruin your next hunt.

-
Recordable. The pilot is human, and things can still be overlooked if eyes are taken off the screen for only a second. The entire Flight is recorded/photographed so if the animal is not found, the footage can be gone over again to double check and make sure nothing was missed. This is usually done on the following day and does take some time to complete.

-
No blood trail required! While blood does hold heat and could be followed if the drone was in the air within minutes of the shot, this usually isn't the case. Blood loses heat fast and then it's temperature matches what its on. The animal however, can hold heat for hours. Depending on conditions, between 24 and up-to 48 hours. This heat signature is visible through our cameras even if the rain or snow has washed away the blood trail.

-
Day or night. We fly missions during the day and at night.

-
Solve private property issues. Air space is owned by no one except the FAA. This means we can fly over other property to see if your animal ran over the property line and expired. If so, we can give you an exact grid for you to ask permission to retrieve your game. This can relieve tensions caused by "Can I walk around your woods and look".

-
Animals often expire in or near water which may require a boat or at minimum a hard, wet walk to find. With our drone, you stay high and dry (until you have to drag your trophy out after we find it!).
Cons
-
Number 1 by far is the need for a drone to "see" through foliage. Even though a thermal can see through fog and even rain, it is not like x-ray vision. It requires a clear line of site to find it's target. We highly suggest using a drone once all of the leaves are off the trees to dramatically increase our chances of success.

-
We must have legal air space to fly in. If the property to be searched is in controlled air space, we need to get permission to fly. This may take a few hours, or days. This is why we have you fill out the form on the previous page so we can research right away and find out if the airspace is controlled or not. Once your information is submitted we will know within 30 seconds of receiving it. Unless you are near an airport or a military installation, most times, it is NOT controlled airspace.

Heat Loss. Animals that have expired do lose heat over time. The more heat that is lost, the less "visible" it becomes. Thermal cameras sense differences in temperature ranges and that's what creates the picture. If we have to use just our 8k camera because the animal has been expired for too long, its natural camouflage could make it very difficult to notice.
